Are you in possession of a foreign driver’s license and have to pass the practical-test? For goal-oriented exam preparation, you need to come to the right place. We speak english, french and turkish. We also teach you a few german words.
Im Detail:
- 1. After entering Switzerland
Important: After entering Switzerland, you are entitled to drive with a foreign driving licence for a maximum of one year. If you trust your driving skills, you can gain experience on the roads alone during this time. But follow the traffic rules.
- 2. before submitting the form
Before you submit the form for the exchange of a foreign driving licence to the «Motorfahrzeugkontrolle», please contact us. This gives you one year to prepare for the test in the best possible way. The form can be found on the following websites: For Basel City: Kantonspolizei des Kantons Basel-Stadt – Formulare (bs.ch) and for Basel-Land: Führer- und Lernfahrausweise — baselland.ch. Please let us know when you need help to fill out the form.
- 3. Submitting the form for the exchange of a foreign driving licence
When submitting the form, the following documents must be submitted in person to the «Motorfahrzeugkontrolle»:
- Completed form with eye test at an optician
- 1 recent colour passport photo (size 35 x 45 mm, no profile shots, without headgear)
- official personal ID (Swiss: identity card, passport / foreigner: foreigner's card)
- foreign driving license
- fees CHF 140.-- will be charged by the "Motorfahrzeugkontrolle"
- 4. Obtaining a provisional permit to drive
After submitting the form, you will receive a provisional permit. It is valid for 3 months and entitles you to drive without an accompanying person. If you do not have an EU driving licence (exceptions are: Andorra, Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Morocco, Monaco, New Zealand, San Marino, Singapore, Tunisia, Taiwan and USA) you must do an practical driving test within these 3 months. The Registration for the test should be made 6 weeks before the expiry of the provisional permit.
- 5. Please Remember!
This is an opportunity for you. If the test is not passed, the practical test drive cannot be repeated. You need to start from scratch. Unfortunately this considerable costs. It is on you to avoid this with a good preparation. We will be happy to help you with this and guide you competently to your goal.
- Anmeldung Theorieprüfung
Melden Sie sich mit dem von der Motorfahrzeugkontrolle erhaltenen Formular oder auf der Internetseite, www.mfpdispo.ch für die Theorieprüfung an. Sie dürfen die Prüfung beliebig innerhalb von 2 Jahren Frist nachholen. Die bestandene Theorieprüfung verfällt mit dem Ablauf des Lernfahrausweises, welcher ebenfalls 2 Jahre gültig ist.
